Opening Ceremony of Professional Training Kitchen

The opening ceremony of the Professional Training Kitchen was held at 3 pm on 25th January 2020 at Government Technical Institute (Insein), Main Assembly Hall.

Department of Technical and Vocational Education and Training is in collaboration with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and held the opening ceremony of the Professional Training Kitchen  at Government Industrial Institute (Insein) at 3:00PM today in Yangon Region. 

This ceremony was participated by Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi; U Tin Maung Tun, Speaker of Yangon Region Hluttaw; Representatives from the Pyithu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw; Hluttaw representatives from Yangon Region; Mr-Tim Enderlin, Ambassador of Switzerland to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; National Education Policy Commission; Chairmen and officials of the National Curriculum Committee and the National Education Standards and Quality Assurance Assessment Committee; Myanmar and Asia Director from Swiss Contact Mr. Manish Pandey and Team Leader Ms. Sabine Roth; Director General of the Ministry of Education; Deputy Director Generals and officials; Representatives from the Union of Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Hoteliers Principals and teachers of vocational training schools in Yangon; Trainers and trainees.

Firstly, Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi delivered the opening speech and he said that Government of Switzerland can open Vocational Training in collaboration with Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) at GTI (Insein) and this Government is carrying out 18 months Dual Apprenticeship. The Professional Training Kitchen is currently being used as a venue for the current practical skills competition. Moreover, it is also a training hall for   Training of Cooking and Restaurant Service Competitors for the ASEAN World skills Competition to be held in Singapore in July. As of now, the tripartite cooperation between the Ministry of Education, the Development Partnership (SDC) and the private sector is in line with the Ministry of Education’s key priorities set out in the National Education Strategic Plan (2016-2021). For the socioeconomic development of Myanmar, the role of Technical, Vocational Education and Training is very important to produce skilled workers to enter the local labor market. As Short-term vocational training is important for producing skilled workers needed for factories, long-term training is also important for producing Advanced Skilled workers with Technical and Soft Skills. The current  Professional Training Kitchen in GTI (Insein) is a place where a short-term and long-term cooking training can be opened. The long-term success of the Dual Apprenticeship at the Career and Vocational Training School is depended on the effective cooperation between the trainers and the entrepreneurs. We urge the entrepreneurs to continue such  cooperation as the long-term success of Dual Apprenticeship of the Career and Vocational Training School is depended on the effective cooperation between the trainers and the entrepreneurs. 

Afterwards, Mr. Tim Enderlin, Ambassador of Switzerland to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar gave a speech and Ms. Sabine Roth, Team Leader of Swiss Contact explained about the Vocational Skills Program.

Then, Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi, Mr Tim Enderlin, Ambassador of Switzerland to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar  Mr Tim Enderlin, Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung Tun, Insein Constituency Pyithu Hluttaw Representative U Maung Maung Oo and Myanmar and Asia Director of Swiss Contact Mr. Manish Pandey cut the ribbon to open the Professional Training Kitchen.

After that , Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Gyi and those who present at the opening ceremony encouraged the participants of Cooking and Restaurant Service for ASEAN Skills Competition in Professional Training Kitchen.
