A DTVET Institution-Based Professional Development (IBPD) Centre is a school-based facility where teachers may participate in PD activities, access PD resources and services, and engage in professional activities that will help them enhance their teaching effectiveness. According to this, 10 IBPD Centre were initiated opening at (5) Government Technical High Schools and (5) Government Technical Institutes in the 2018-2019 Budget Year. IBPD Centre (GTI.Insein) was included one of them.

Vision

  • Provide more opportunities for TVET teachers to upgrade their teaching and learning qualifications and to help administrators, teachers, and other educators improve their professional knowledge, competence, skills and effectiveness.

Mission

  • Systematic teacher training through in-school professional development by means of a reformed training program in pedagogical and practical skills training to lead student-centered, competency based education and training.
  • Providing a platform to create institution-level links to the local private center.

Organization Structure of IBPD Centre

  1. IBPD Centre has two responsible persons for providing the professional development activities of Institute. They are Head of Professional Development 1 and 2. At this circumstance, Daw Myint Myint Thu (Civil Dept) and Daw Ei Ei Khin (EC Dept) are responsible persons as the HOPD 1 and HOPD 2 in GTI.Insein.

Professional Development Activities of IBPD Centre

Participation in other HoPD activities (in-school/out of school) ….

The main objective of IBPD Centre is to develop the professional skills of TVET teachers in Institute. According to this, we did the professional development (PD) activities during the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 academic year in our Institute.

 

Newly recruited teachers, induction plan…

DTVET is conducting the induction plans and ongoing training programs for first year teachers (Newly graduated teachers) devised and delivered since 2017-2018 at TPTC -Baelin and DTVET Office -Yangon. In 2019-2020, this training opened at TPTC-Baelin and GTI.Insein. Therefore, we are participated as the pedagogical and life skill trainers to enhance the soft skill capacity of preservice teachers at this training program Batch (1,2, and 3).


IBPD Centre has made professional development at the Institute;

  •          We can implement PD activities with teachers at the Institute. Obviously, we found that teachers have actively participated in ongoing PD activities of the IBPD Centre. Moreover, we connected with Local industries and private sectors for building a strong relationship to promote the practical skills and gain more industrial experiences. In conclusion, we will continue to participate in our Institute development plan and arrange the required training according to the needs of teachers’ professional competency at their teaching area.
