The department of mechanical engineering was established at the Government Technical Institute (Insein) in 2017-2018 academic year. It is one of the six major departments of G.T.I (Insein). The department strives to provide competency-based technical education to the students. The department has well qualified and experienced teaching staff. They prepare teaching-learning process with an emphasis on practical applications to achieve professional knowledge and skills through training. The department offers a three-year diploma program. In 2018-2019 academic year, the department opens evening class for working students on weeknights and weekends that follows the same quality as daytime courses. In addition to formal courses, the department often opens short term training courses. The department opens regular AGTI courses for day class and evening class. It also opens short term training courses. In this department, there are nine faculties and one hundred and ten students. 41 students of Year I and 33 students of Year II attend the day class. Other 36 students of Year I attend the evening class. For short term training, CNC lathe batch 1,2 and CNC milling batch 1 are already completed.
